Brunner Family FP awarded OSLAD grant

Campground open
Who's ready to do some camping? Paul Wolff Campground in Elgin opened May 1 for the season, and Big Rock Campground is expected to open in July. Come camping with us! See here for more information on Paul Wolff Campground.

Temporary Closures
Due to flooding, the following areas remain closed as of 5/6: the back/south end of Buffalo Park FP; all trails in Oakhurst FP; the Fox River Trail between Jon J. Duerr FP & County Park in South Elgin; and the River Bend Trail. We will update here and on Facebook, as conditions improve.

Chronic Wasting Disease Info
Chronic wasting disease is an always-fatal neurological disease found in deer and elk. If left unmanaged, it’s feared the disease could spread throughout the state’s deer population. Story Time at Creek Bend Nature Center

Treat your children to stories in the Nature Center, this summer.  Summer story times are held at Creek Bend Nature Center for children, infant through age 5 and their caregivers. Saint Charles Public Library staff will read books, accompanied by finger plays, songs and more. All are welcome to enjoy the interactive exhibits in the Nature Center following the program.  These programs will be held at Creek Bend Nature Center in Saint Charles on the following Fridays from 10:30 – 11 a.m.  Advance registration is required.  Please register for only one date so that as many families as possible may participate.

Week in the Woods: Little Sprouts Camp - Preschooler Session

Introduce your child to the wonders of nature in this new camp designed for four- and five-year olds. There will be nature stories, games and short explorations into the nearby woods. We’ll search for butterflies, look at wildflowers, learn about trees and more! Activities will be held both inside Creek Bend Nature Center and outside in the woods. Advance registration is required.

Week in the Woods: Summer Twilight Camp - Early Evening 4-day session

 
For children entering grades 3 - 5
Discover a whole new world of wildlife during this evening summer camp.  We’ll learn about the native animals that are out and about at dusk.  Camp activities will include hikes with the naturalists through the woods and prairie, games, stories, and a campfire on the last night of camp.  Advance registration is required.
