Mighty Mosses - 8.22.21

Time: 10:00 AM

Location: Creek Bend Nature Center

Mighty Mosses – Despite their important role in ecology and botanical history, mosses are criminally understudied. How do mosses help soils and microorganisms? How many species are there? When it comes to the mosses of Kane County, we're not entirely sure. This program will deliver a comprehensive overview of what we do know about the mosses in our region, as well as tips and tricks for identifying them, and how we can begin filling the knowledge gap. Following the presentation, we'll go for a hike in the surrounding preserve to put our new ID skills to the test!

Learn from the Experts – These adult classes are taught by experts in the field and offer in-depth information and learning opportunities about our local ecology. This award-winning program series is co-sponsored by the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, the St. Charles Park District, and the Geneva Park District. These programs are for ages 18 and up.
